My Story

With an eye for the arts and taste buds for great food, Rick Matharu has become a trendsetter in both the entertainment and culinary realms. As the Season 2 winner of the Food Network's “Recipe to Riches”, Rick's now famous ‘Butter Chicken Lasagna’ became a President's Choice product and is distributed Canada-wide in grocery stores. His intention was to highlight the vibrancy and flavours of his childhood to his country as a Punjabi-Canadian.  This has helped catapult Rick into becoming an ambassador for cuisine and the celebrated diversity of Canada.

Rick has guest hosted on Citytv’s ‘What's Cooking’, featured in publications like The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Brampton Guardian, The Huffington Post, Ottawa Citizen, Tribune India, and has appeared on CBC, Toronto Life, The Morning Show, BBC Asian Network, and other mainstream media outlets. Rick’s efforts have been focused on highlighting South-Asian food and how his identity as a Punjabi-Canadian has allowed him to explore fusion cooking.

After multiple guest segments as Food Culturalist on OMNI and Citytv’s Bollywood Boulevard, Rick has recently joined the cast alongside host Veronica Chail and Bollywood Insider Daniel Pillai for his own segment called BLVD Bites. With his light-hearted personality, each week Rick brings viewers refreshing recipes with a filmi twist.

Aside from traditional media relations, Rick utilizes his skill as a professional videographer and photographer to create for his blog "Ricks Good Eats". RicksGoodEats.com has been dishing out yummy creations while contributing to a community of self-professed foodies who enjoy culinary culture. Through YouTube videos, Instagram, FaceBook and blog posts, Rick hopes viewers will let down their inhibitions and experiment in the kitchen with different cultures and flavours.

Apart from his interests in the culinary world, Rick recently co-founded the collective of The Glass Museum with his wife Harjot. The Glass Museum works with independent artists, musicians, designers, filmmakers and corporate brands to proliferate art and produce original content. This has allowed for opportunities to work with friends and colleagues like Lilly IISuperwomanII Singh, Humble the Poet, Inkquisitive, Selena Dhillon, Mad Tatter Films, Fulkari and new relations to form with Avani Indian Bistro, Milestones restaurants, Contiki Adventures, and Sony Entertainment.
